John Bassler

JohnBasslerJohn Bassler is a Senior Business Executive who now serves as a Consultant and Advisor to large, small and start-up businesses, after having spent about thirty years as a Leader in the Executive Search Industry. Most recently, he served as a Managing Director of executive search firm – Korn/Ferry International (KFY: NYSE) based in the flagship New York Office. Prior to his twenty year affiliation with Korn/Ferry, Mr. Bassler spent 10 years with Heidrick & Struggles.

Recruited to join Korn/Ferry as Managing Director of the firm’s New York Office, he held a number of key leadership positions including Global Executive Committee Member prior to the firm’s going public; Global Practice Leader of the large Consumer Practice; and Managing Director of the Company’s Northeast Region of six offices: Stamford, Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, Princeton, and Washington, DC. Always focused on “Delighting his clients”, he held these management roles, while remaining one of the firm’s top individual producers.

His executive search experience includes recruiting Board Directors, CEO’s and other C-Suite positions for a variety of companies and industries. Based on his strong recruiting skills, he also served as Chairman of the Recruiting Committee. He was Korn/Ferry’s Board Representative on The AESC (Association of Executive Search Consultants) for six years as well.

Prior to entering the executive search industry, Mr. Bassler was a Senior Vice President and Director for Compton Advertising, Inc. working first in Frankfurt, Germany and then later in New York City. His earlier experience included work as a Senior Marketing Consultant for Glendinning International based in Frankfurt and serving as an Account Director for McCann- Erickson International based in London. He began his career in Product Management with Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio

Mr. Bassler is committed to giving back, and is active in his community and church in Darien, Connecticut. A major interest is his role as a Board Director of Liberation Programs, Inc. a not-for-profit agency serving Fairfield County, Connecticut dedicated to assisting individuals with substance abuse issues.

John holds a BA from Brown University and an MBA from George Washington University. He also served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy.
